Treatment of Water using Aeration
Aeration Bubble Curtains
Using Bubble Curtains for planned and reactive aeration and emergency oxygenation sustains dissolved oxygen and protects aquatic life.

Bubble Curtains can be rapidly deployed to boost, maintain or restore dissolved oxygen in rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
Using Bubble Tubing® diffusers laid at or near the bed, each system releases a plume of fine bubbles that drives vertical mixing and delivers unparalleled oxygen transfer efficiency.
This benthic aeration helps sustain DO thresholds, mitigates low-oxygen incidents during works or pollution events, and protects aquatic ecosystems.
In reservoir applications it can also support manganese oxidation, improving raw water quality.
- Designed for emergency response or planned programmes, Bubble Curtains are quick and simple to deploy, connecting to standard site tool compressors for immediate use or to silent and renewable-powered compressors for longer-term, low-noise operation.
- Systems are configured to site conditions (length, depth, flow and access) and can be arranged as straight runs, arcs or enclosures to match the objective.
- For sustained, heavy-duty aeration and destratification, pair or upgrade to one of our OctoAir® aerators.
Key Benefits
Breathing life back into water
Rapid oxygenation
Helps restore dissolved oxygen above critical thresholds, reducing the risk of fish kills and ecological damage
Benthic aeration
Delivers oxygen close to the bed, improving water quality and resilience in deeper or stratified systems
Does not obstruct navigation
Bubble Curtains form a permeable barrier, allowing vessel and wildlife movement while oxygenating water
Flexible deployment
Suitable for planned works or emergency response, with layouts that can be moved as conditions change
Manganese oxidation
Supports treatment of manganese in reservoirs, reducing treatment costs
Cost and carbon efficiencies
Re-usable across projects, low maintenance, and switched off when not needed to reduce operating costs
Every Bubble Curtain is designed around site conditions. Key design considerations include:
Scope of project | Curtain length, water depth, flows, tidal range, bathymetry, and access |
Layout | Geometry (linear, arc, enclosure) |
Weighted options | Anchoring and moorings to suit substrate and flow conditions |
Compressor | We will provide specification including oil-free, energy-optimised units with low noise options |
Maintenance | Self-purging perforations minimise fouling |
Validation | Tested for aeration, oxygen transfer calculations are performed by our Technical Team to support design optimisation for responsive and planned projects |
Warranty | Supplied with a 5-year manufacturing warranty |
