Aerated Constructed Wetlands
Reedbed Aeration
We enhance reedbed treatment performance by introducing fine-bubble aeration using our award-winning Bubble Tubing® technology.

Bubble Tubing® introduces micro-bubbles into constructed reedbeds to improve oxygenation, enhance microbial activity, and extend effective performance – even through colder or high-load periods.
Adding aeration to reedbed systems overcomes oxygen limitations that can reduce treatment efficiency in traditional designs.
Bubble Tubing® has unsurpassed oxygen transfer capabilities, has been independently tested and can be modelled to provide a kilogram of oxygen transfer per hour of output.
Our Aerated Reedbed systems provide:
- Uniform oxygen delivery across gravel media
- Continuous aerobic conditions for plant and microbe health
- Improved nitrification, ammonia removal, and organic degradation
- Reduced risk of bypass and surface flow, particularly in winter or high-load events
- Retrofitting capability for failing or ageing reedbed installations
Key Benefits
Superb performance, proven technology
Locks in nutrients
Consistent treatment performance in high-loading or variable flow situations
Engineered to perform
Our linear diffuser provides even oxygen distribution, outperforming point diffusers or uneven spray systems
Reduces seasonal performance risk
Take more control with the seasonal resilience, aeration reduces winter freeze and microbial dormancy.
Low-maintenance, passive setup
The system’s anti-clogging design ensures reliability in wetland conditions. It is easy to maintain, and has a significant lifespan.
Retrofit with ease
We provide a flexible retrofit solution, ideal for boosting underperforming reedbed systems.
Low operational costs
This highly efficient system requires low energy which in combination with it being durable and longstanding, reduces clients long term operational costs.
Technical specification
Materials | Bubble Tubing® ¾ inch A small compressor is not included but we provide specification. |
Length of tubing | Determined by the treatment requirements, size and depth of the reedbed – contact us to discuss your project. |
Installation | Self install support will be provided or use one of our approved installers |
Warranty | 1 year |
- Tubing emits fine bubbles that rise through the media, driven by a bank-based compressor and feeder line
- Gravel media must have sufficient pore space (medium-coarse) to allow bubble passage
- Optimum design balances pore depth, bubble size, and aeration rate for best oxygen transfer efficiency
