Floating Wetlands
Bringing diversity and water quality to urban lakes and rivers
We are proud to be a founding partner in Flora-Float – a pioneering, 100% plastic-free floating wetland for long-term habitat restoration, water treatment and floating landscape projects.
Floating Wetlands lets us bring the incredible benefits of wetlands into water bodies that cannot accommodate a natural wetland.
Wetland plants provide beautiful and diverse habitat whilst the complex root structure delivers natural biological treatment in the water column.
Our systems are designed with durable internal buoyancy set in a high surface area matrix for high plant success rates and a long design life.
While we do not supply Flora-Float directly, we work with skilled designers and contractors who specialise in the design and delivery of floating wetland projects.

How we help:
Working in water products
Water treatment systems
Silt control products
Why choose us
We are technical specialists with sector-specific knowledge of managing water quality in construction and other industries.
For over 10 years, we have worked with leading contractors and construction companies in the UK and Europe to reduce water pollution in a responsible way. Our innovative technology has been designed to help companies reduce operational costs without harming the environment.
With our award-winning range of silt control products, bubble curtains, water treatment solutions and training programmes, we’re helping industries to improve water quality for all the right reasons.
Increasing compliance
We work with companies to design and implement water pollution management strategies that increase compliance at all stages of a project. For best outcomes, this is done in pre-construction planning but can also be achieved reactively.
Saving you money
Our innovative solutions offer a cost-effective way to manage water quality for the long-term, negating the need for costly mechanical intervention and water treatments further down the line.
Enhancing the environment
Our products are designed to work with the environment rather than against it, using innovative technologies and methods to reduce carbon footprint.
Empowering industries
Enabling people to get better at protecting the environment is what drives us and we share our knowledge through bespoke training, upskilling sessions and hands-on technical support.
Innovation for better outcomes
We use our knowledge and expertise to think beyond conventional methods, leading to the creation of engineered solutions and practices that are better for the environment and better for business.
Tried and tested solutions
Created by industry experts, our award-winning products and methods have been proven in the field, with over 10 years of hands-on experience and applied sector-specific knowledge.
Floating Treatment Wetlands: constructed wetlands that treat water naturally
Floating Wetlands deliver multiple benefits for water and wildlife. It can be used to create and connect habitats and also offers naturalised floating erosion control to help protect and restore sensitive habitats.
The unique design and construction using a thick internal buoyant base, ensures high planting success rates, long-term plant establishment and durability in even the most extreme settings.
Planning a floating island project
Floating islands are a great habitat creation tool that have also been proven to improve water quality in a wide range of peer reviewed literature
Floating Islands deliver a means of introducing emergent vegetation into water bodies that could otherwise not accommodate this colourful and diverse habitat.
As well as creating the perfect invitation for nature to thrive above the water line, the root structures that develop below the island provide a complex and biodiverse substrate.
This substrate has been proven to process nutrients and remove pollutants from the water column, as well as provide a totally different habitat to the surface of the island.
There are many different types of floating islands, from naturally occurring examples found in different parts of the world through to home-made efforts and a range of commercial offerings from the cheap & cheerful to the highly engineered.
Finding the right approach to planning a floating island project will be a case of defining budget as well as defining the wildlife and water quality outcomes.
When it comes to planning a floating island project, big is not necessarily beautiful.
Easy and sustainable solutions
Floating islands are a fast and cost-effective way of creating a wetland habitat or improving a water body that is unsightly or polluted. The wetlands provide an immediate and pleasing greening effect and also help to clean up the water, solving two problems at one stroke.
After just one growing season our floating wetlands leave you with attractive habitats along a river’s edges or islands in the middle of a pond or lake.
It is the only floating island system that is designed to naturalise right to the water’s edge.
The unique modular design with internal buoyancy are easily arranged and connected together.
The materials used are sustainable and recyclable.
Fast results with wetland plants establishing quickly
The modules are typically supplied with pre-established wetland plants. In just one year the increase in plant mass leads to a natural-looking river edge or island. This rapidly provides valuable habitat, which in turn leads to an increase in biodiversity like insects, birds and bats.
The root systems of the plants on the floating islands also process excess nutrients in polluted waters. This improves water quality and the wider aquatic habitat for insects and fish. It has more peer-reviewed and externally verified data than any other floating islands system when it comes to improving water quality.
Easy to build Floating Wetlands
Our modules have an integral joining mechanism allowing for modules to be quickly and easily connected without any ancillary parts or pieces.
They can be connected manually with minimal risk and installed without the need for cranes or heavy machinery.
The modules are internally buoyant throughout, not just along the edges or focused in the centre. Such stability across the whole surface area allows even narrow installations to support a fully mature vegetation scheme with diverse height and biomass distribution. A simple way to create a long riparian edge or a larger floating island.
The unique design allows the modules to be completely submerged, impacted by boats or even vandalised, without compromising the integrity of the buoyancy. The design also has multiple anchoring connection points, which can also be adjusted should the installation need to be moved elsewhere.
