Monitoring water quality during construction - Frog Environmental

We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Specialist to help lead technical delivery across our consulting, design and project work.

Frog Environmental is a specialist environmental solutions provider focused on protecting water environments.

Our work centres on silt pollution control, surface water management, and the deployment of practical treatment systems on live construction sites. We also design and supply bubble curtain and aeration systems across a range of temporary and permanent applications.

Working with our Technical Director and other senior technical experts, we are seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to support the technical delivery across our consulting, design and project work.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys applying technical expertise to real-world problems and seeing projects through from initial advice to successful delivery and performance verification.

The role combines consulting, design thinking, project delivery and technical leadership. Work may involve site visits, client engagement, technical design thinking, project and contract management, delivering training, and structured reporting.

You will work directly with clients to assess environmental risks, develop practical solutions, and help ensure those solutions perform as intended in the field.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring Frog continues to build its reputation as a technically reliable and trusted partner.

Key responsibilities

The Technical Specialist converts technical expertise into practical, repeatable value for clients:

Technical consulting and solution development
Assess construction site environmental risks and develop practical strategies for managing silt pollution and surface water.

Project delivery and management
Lead technical work from initial enquiry through to project delivery, including scope definition, programme management and coordination of internal and external resources.

System specification
Develop and specify appropriate water management and treatment approaches, including silt control systems, temporary water treatment systems, bubble curtains and aeration systems.

Client engagement
Act as a trusted technical contact for clients, helping them understand risks, constraints and practical solutions. Maintain long-term relationships built on clarity, reliability and honest technical advice.

Monitoring, verification and reporting
Design monitoring approaches where required, interpret performance data, and produce clear technical reports verifying system performance.

Training and knowledge sharing
Support delivery of technical training and CPD sessions where appropriate, sharing lessons learned from projects and helping promote good practice across the industry.

Technical authority
Ensure technical advice, product guidance and reporting remain accurate, defensible and grounded in real project outcomes.

Key attributes

  • Strong technical background in environmental engineering, water management, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with construction sites, environmental protection, or water treatment systems.
  • Ability to combine technical thinking with practical project delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence working directly with clients and managing technical work.
  • Professional mindset and sound technical judgement.
  • AI and IT savvy, comfortable using digital tools and happy to engage with company’s social media channels.

What success looks like

Projects are delivered safely and professionally. Technical work is clearly scoped and delivered. Reports stand up to scrutiny. Solutions perform as expected in the field.

Clients return because they trust Frog’s advice.

You will have real responsibility for technical outcomes and the freedom to exercise professional judgement.

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking technical responsibility and seeing their work perform in the real world.

The Kex Gill road realignment scheme is a challenging project with multiple environmental risks including management of silt and water quality of the surrounding environment given the locality of designated sites.

Frog Environmental are providing us with extensive technical support, including the design, supply and install of their silt control products on site to ensure the project minimises risks to the watercourses in the project vicinity and prevents impact on highly sensitive aquatic species.

It’s great to be working with them and we’re delighted with the success of the whole project.
